On April 17, TPD welcomed 28 enthusiastic young guests, ages 6 to 11, for an exciting and educational Take a Child to Work Day program packed with creativity, collaboration, and fun.
The day began with breakfast and icebreakers before participants got an inside look at TPD, learning about the work we do and the many careers that help bring projects to life. Throughout the morning, the children rotated through interactive engineering activity stations, where they explored real-world problem-solving through hands-on learning experiences.
In the afternoon, the young attendees put their creativity and teamwork skills to the test during the highlight of the day: the “Design Your Park” group project. Working together, each team responded to a mock Request for Proposal (RFP), developed concepts for their park designs, and presented their ideas during a simulated public meeting. The exercise gave participants a fun introduction to the planning, design, and communication skills that are part of many TPD projects.
The day concluded with a special certificate presentation and paycheck distribution, recognizing the children for their hard work and participation. From start to finish, the event was filled with learning, laughter, treats, and plenty of imagination.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to make this year’s Take a Child to Work Day such a success.
