SERVICES OVERVIEW

TPD staff includes experienced and skilled leaders in lighting design.  They are highly regarded professionals in the industry with exceptional client service skills to meet any related needs. Their experience includes a broad range of transportation lighting design for various clients for projects ranging from small multi-use trails to complex freeway interchanges. Services include horizontal illuminance calculations; lighting vendor coordination; drawing development; wiring diagrams; engineer’s estimates; development of technical specifications; detailed site layouts, including load center design; conduit & cable routing; pole and foundation details; MPT; photometric analysis; report writing; lighting design plans; electrical designs & calculations; and multidiscipline coordination with Survey, Structures, Environmental (Permitting and SESC Design), Utilities, Traffic Signals and Highways.

TPD staff are highly experienced in horizontal illuminance calculations, lighting design reports, preliminary engineering, and final design packages. We have assisted in providing lighting services for various projects across several states. Our lighting design experts have worked with both private developers and public municipal clients and possess experience in lighting toll facilities; tunnel lighting; interchange lighting; and continuous highway lighting for clients, including but not limited to the PA Turnpike Commission, DelDOT, NJDOT, NJ Turnpike, NJTPA, SCDOT, VDOT, and MassDOT. We have also assisted our local government clients serving as Municipal Lighting Engineers, reviewing and inspecting land development applications, along with acting as a representative to consult through the DVRPC’s Regional Streetlight Procurement Program, which replaced thousands of existing streetlights within the Delaware Valley Region of PA.

Our Team is well-versed in using both widely accepted lighting design software programs, AGi32 and Visual Lighting. Our Construction Services (CS) Team has also completed inspection services on a number of Highway Lighting Projects for PennDOT in Districts 5-0 and 6-0.  We are familiar with all the industry publications and standards, as well as local standards and preferences. One of our staff is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and has attended Lightfair International conferences on multiple occasions to keep up with industry standards and trends, while also making beneficial vendor connections.  Frank Falzone, PE, who serves as a Senior Project Manager in TPD’s Lighting Design Group, has authored a 2015 article featured in the Bucks County Association of Township Officials entitled “LED Street Lighting and Retrofitting Municipalities.”
