Canon Americas retained TPD (formerly Atlantic Traffic and Design) for the development of their 900,000 square foot American Headquarters located in Melville, New York, which has been recognized as the “Best Office Building” on Long Island.

TPD services included the preparation of a comprehensive Synchro Simulation Model of the surrounding roadway network, which includes NYS Route 110, the Long Island Expressway, Old Walt Whitman Road and other major arterials. The analysis was the basis for the evaluation and conceptual design of extensive mitigative improvements to the existing roadway network to accommodate the anticipated demand associated with the project. These improvements include various transportation demand management techniques, new traffic signals and significant capacity upgrades.

TPD designed and permitted the significant improvements that were required to mitigate the adjacent roadway network. The mitigation included preparation of traffic engineering drawings for the involved Town, State and Federal roadway and
coordination with the Empire State Development Corporation and Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency.
