TPD was selected as Prime Consultant by Delaware County to provide construction oversight and inspection for the reconstruction of the County Bridge #9, located on Mount Alverno Road over Chester Creek, Delaware County.

The existing 114-6 span bridge is a single-span reinforced concrete arch on reinforced concrete abutments and wingwalls. The existing structure was replaced with a single span composite steel multi-girder bridge with a span length of 120 feet, meeting current PennDOT design and safety standards and constructed in accordance with PennDOT Publication 408.

TPD provided construction management and inspection services for this project that was constructed using a combination of Federal, State, and Local funds. The project also had many local stakeholders since the roadway serves as a connector between two numbered state routes and provides access to trailhead for the Chester Creek Trail. Project staff provided coordination between all parties including the local power company since a new gas transmission facility was installed on the new structure.

Construction commenced in January of 2022 and was completed in the Summer of 2023.
