TPD is serving as the Prime Consultant for this Bridge Improvements Project. The scope of work includes priority repairs to Bridge W‑43, consisting of the removal of the existing fender system that protects the two (2) bascule piers and the installation of a new timber fender system and navigational lighting system. The contract also includes all incidental and necessary work as shown on the Construction Plans for this structure located at the Shark River Inlet to the Atlantic Ocean.

The project included the typical challenges of working in a marine environment, such as coordination with the Coast Guard, working from a barge in rough waters, monitoring underwater work and divers, and monitoring environmental concerns.

TPD’s responsibilities include:

  • Construction Management
  • Construction Inspection
  • Source Documentation
  • Completing all County Forms as Required
  • Advising and Consulting with the County During all Phases of Construction
  • Chairing Pre-Construction Meeting and Attending all Project Meetings
  • Tracking Project Schedule and Submittals
  • Monitoring community and environmental concerns such as access issues and vibration of nearby residential structures, the bridge itself, and the gazebo on the Avon Boardwalk during installation of the timber piles.

Our ultimate goal is to assure the County that the project is being constructed in full compliance with the plans, specifications, and design requirements, while consistently serving the County’s best interest.
