Fostering Relationships with Future Leaders

Hosting students through our co-op and internship program is not only beneficial for the students but TPD views it as an opportunity as well; the chance to gain new perspectives from bright minds, as well as relationship building with tomorrow’s workforce.

TPD is deeply committed to providing our people with opportunities for professional development, mentorship, and upward mobility. We encourage all of our staff members, including students, to take every applicable opportunity to advance their knowledge and professional skills, based on our belief that the accelerated growth of individuals directly results in accelerated growth of the firm.

Our co-ops and interns perform REAL work on REAL agreements.

With oversight and mentoring provided by their direct manager and managing peers, our students tackle real-world challenges and perform meaningful work as part of our team. We encourage our students to make the most of their time at TPD, providing cross-training opportunities, and an inclusive, energetic and welcoming culture. If you are a student looking for more information on our co-op and internship program, please contact our Human Resources Department.

Student Feature

Hear about Josh Zimmerman's experience at TPD!

“As I begin my junior year at Lehigh University, I want to take a moment to reflect on the experience I had this past summer, interning with TPD. Working alongside senior engineers gave me the chance to see how transportation projects develop from planning through execution, while also contributing to day-to-day operations. I analyzed intersections to determine level of service, evaluated queue and sight distances, reviewed crash data, and assisted in preparing Transportation Impact Studies. Along the way, I strengthened my technical skills and learned the importance of clear, concise communication in engineering work.

A highlight of the summer was being invited to take part in the Transportation Quality Initiative (TQI) Shared Interns Program. Through TQI, I connected with fellow interns, young professionals, and industry leaders, gained exposure to major projects like the Betsy Ross Interchange, and toured active sites to see the work happening in real time. These experiences gave me a broader view of the transportation industry and the different paths available within it.

I’m very thankful for the mentorship and guidance I received from TPD’s staff. I’m excited to continue working with TPD this fall and to keep growing my skills and perspective in transportation engineering!”
